Privacy Policy for Word Labs
Effective Date: August 8, 2025
1. Introduction
Thank you for using Word Labs (“the App”), your personal language learning companion. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our App. Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to protecting it.
2. Information We Collect
We designed Word Labs to be as privacy-focused as possible. The information we handle can be categorized as follows:
- User-Provided Content: We process the topics you enter (e.g., “Space Exploration”) to generate vocabulary lists. This content is sent to our AI service provider solely for the purpose of generating your list and is not stored or linked to you personally by us.
- Third-Party Services Data: The App integrates third-party services that may collect information to function correctly. We do not collect personal information like your name, email, or contacts.
3. How We Use Your Information
The information handled by the App and its integrated services is used for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App’s core functionality, such as generating vocabulary lists.
- To display advertisements in the free version of the App, which supports its ongoing development.
- To manage and verify in-app purchases for the Pro version upgrade.
- To prevent abuse of our services by monitoring anonymous usage quotas.
- To analyze app performance, identify crashes, and improve user experience.
4. Third-Party Services
Our app relies on the following third-party services, which have their own privacy policies:
- Google Play Services (including Google Play Billing): Used for processing in-app purchases for the Pro upgrade. We do not receive or store any of your financial information; this is handled securely by Google. You can review their policy here: Google Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob: Used to display advertisements in the free version of the App. AdMob may collect data such as your device’s advertising ID to serve personalized ads. You can manage your ad preferences in your Google Account settings.
- Firebase: We use several Firebase services for essential app functions:
- Firebase Authentication: To provide anonymous user identifiers (UIDs) to distinguish between users for quota management, without collecting personal identity.
- Firebase Firestore: To track daily list creation quotas anonymously to prevent abuse of the AI generation service.
- Firebase Remote Config: To securely manage the API key required for the word generation feature.
Firebase is a Google product and is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
5. In-App Purchases
If you choose to upgrade to the Pro version of Word Labs, the purchase is processed securely by the Google Play Store. We do not collect, receive, or store any of your financial information, such as credit card numbers. The upgrade will remove all advertisements from the App.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information handled by our App. However, no electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete such information.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
